HIDE StairStalk has been named one of Dezeen's top 10 staircases of 2018.
Heyne Tillett Steel developed the structural engineering approach for the dramatic timber staircase, crafted in the form of an organic tree stalk.
The biggest challenge was to seamlessly integrate steel plated reinforcements into the timber design. Detailed connections were key and provide adequate strength while remaining concealed within the timber carcass.
HTS also worked on the reconfiguration of the building which has now become HIDE, a new restaurant and bar by Hedonism Wines and Ollie Dabbous.
