HTS+ Composite Timber Connections

The HTS + Composite Design in Timber research project has been developed in collaboration with City University and a MSc final year student, to investigate composite behaviour.

The project investigated the potential saving in structural depth / material that could be achieved by using glulam beams fixed to CLT floor panels. It focused on the applicability of site-applied mechanical fixings such as screws, shear blocks and metal punched plates with an emphasis on simple and efficient buildability on site.

The overall piece of research has produced meaningful results which outperform simplistic Eurocode analogies and can help to inform future industry design guidance and position timber as a material of choice within the commercial sector.
